A little about Carla...

Carla Collins of Dallas, Texas passed away on July 6, 2012. She was 48 years old, and loved by many people and dogs. As the owner of Sit Means Sit- Dallas, Texas, a member of Search One Rescue Team and Texas Task Force One, her passion for dogs was a driving force in her life.

Carla is survived by her parents, Nancy and Clifford Robison, her grandmother, Margaret Robison, and her children Laura Marie Sage and Robert Dan Sage. Her granddaughter, Ali Mari Sage, age 4 was the light of her life. Other members of her family include her sisters and brother-in-laws, Patti and John Van der Vlies, Cheryl and Glenn Dimmer, and her sister, Mandy Luther.

Her many friends and family remember her as a compassionate, service oriented community member. As a canine handler, she devoted countless hours to search and rescue missions in Texas, Louisiana, and Missouri. One of her four legged partners, Scooby, Scrappy, or Joker were by her side, and will miss her in ways that we cannot even imagine.

As a mother, a grandmother, a daughter, and a team-mate, Carla’s generosity knew no boundaries. She was always available to listen, provide gentle feedback, and when needed, an infectious smile that would lighten even the most serious situation. As a member of a national network of dog trainers and the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue system, she will be remembered for setting the bar high, imparting her uncommon wisdom to countless students, and loving every dog who crossed her path.

Those of us who knew and loved her will honor her memory by continuing to put family first, serving our state and nation, and treating others with dignity and respect. The dogs who loved her, and there are many, will do their best to be what she loved to call them, “Good boy!” or “Good girl!”
